Marine Electrical/ Electronics Foreman
Berthon has an opportunity available for an experienced Marine Electrical/ Electronics Foreman to lead our highly skilled team of marine electricians and apprentices on major refits, repairs, upgrades, equipment updates, new installations, and in-service-support for military, commercial and yacht customers.
The following are essential for this role:
Knowledge and skills
- Qualified marine electrical/electronics engineer
- Proven track record in a team leadership role
- Ability to communicate at all levels of the organisation
- Ability to give technical input into specifications and estimating
- Excellent diagnostic skills with the ability to work to exacting standards
- In depth knowledge of marine electrical DC and AC systems
- Self-starter, motivated, reliable, good eye for detail, and proven track record in electrical and electronics and team leadership.
Advantageous experience:
Experienced in marine electronic installations, fault diagnostics and service support of market leading electronics including:
- Raymarine
- Garmin
- B&G
- Simrad
- Victron
- Mastervolt
- Digital switching systems e.g. C-Zone, EmpirBus
Main Duties and responsibilities
- Lead a team of marine electricians and apprentices and provide technical support
- A wide range of electronic and electrical installations, repairs and upgrades
- A wide range of instrument and wiring upgrades
- Fault diagnosis on a range of engine electronic management systems, navigation systems and battery monitoring systems
- Commissioning, dock side trials, sea trials and collection & delivery trips
- Able to work on own initiative to provide off-site support to commercial customers
- Working in a team with other trade foremen to produce a quality product to budget and on time
Pay and conditions
- £23.65 per hour
- 40 hour working week
- Overtime at 1.5x available at busy periods
- Notional dividend (subject to qualifying period)
- Contributory pension scheme: 5% employee, 3% employer
