The Gemini 880 MOD-X is built with one clear goal: flexibility without compromise. It isn’t just a RIB—it’s a platform. A tough, adaptable, purpose-built vessel designed for operators who need flexibility without compromising on performance. Whether it’s military operations, port security, crew transfer, or even drone deployment, this Gemini 880 has been configured to do it all—and do it well.
At its core is a deck system designed for change. Modular seat tracks, removable jockey seating, and large clear working decks fore and aft allow for rapid role switching in the field. One day it might be moving gear; the next, it’s a mobile command centre or unmanned drone platform. The MOD-X is the answer when you need one boat that can do it all.
When lives are on the line—whether military, marine, or civilian—the ability to adapt quickly, safely, and effectively isn’t just a luxury. It’s a necessity.

This version of the 880 was built as a modular commercial defence platform. Designed with reconfiguration in mind, it’s fitted with a specialised deck track system that allows fast switching between operational layouts. Whether you’re adding extra seating for personnel, mounting comms for intel-gathering operations, weapon system mounts in hostile environments, loading cargo in a secure storage rig, or setting up a flight deck for drone launch and recovery area—this boat handles it all. It can even switch roles to function as a filming boat or marine survey platform.
One of the standout features of this WR880 is its open and level forward and aft decks. These clean, uninterrupted spaces give crew the flexibility to work around the boat—setting up temporary workstations, stretchers, gear mounts, or access paths without obstruction. When speed of deployment matters, that kind of deck freedom makes a difference.
The 880 will always serve as a reliable platform in hostile environments, emergency response, humanitarian aid, or disaster relief operations.
At the centre of it all sits the Commander 8100 Stealth Console. Finished in grey, this heavy-duty helm houses internal lockers and watertight hatches on both the forward and aft sides—with twin rear access doors for quick entry. The layout seats up to 11 crew, including six removable jockey seats and twin Ullman shock-mitigating seats for the pilot and co-pilot. All seats are mounted on the track system for rapid changes.
Below deck, dual 300L aluminium fuel tanks provide 600L of fuel capacity—perfect for long-range operations. There’s also the option to fit external tanks when missions demand even greater endurance. Forward and aft storage lockers, including units at the splashwell and beneath the foredeck, provide safe, dry space for all gear.
Power comes from a single Yamaha 400hp V8 XTO Offshore Outboard—one of the most robust and capable outboards on the water. It’s paired with Yamaha’s drive-by-wire and steer-by-wire systems and monitored through a CL5 multi-function display. With this setup, throttle response, helm feel, and fuel efficiency are second to none. Whether sprinting between waypoints or maintaining station in rough conditions, this engine delivers.
And because Gemini doesn’t compromise on real-world usability, the hull is finished in Signal Grey GRP, paired with Orca Neptune Grey 7-chamber slide-on tubes. These military-spec tubes come with dual sharkfin rubbing strakes, non-slip patches, and Leafield valves—ensuring resilience, safety, and ease of service.
The boat’s navigation and communication suite is built to match its performance. A Raymarine Axiom2 Pro 12” hybrid-touch multifunction display sits at the helm, supported by a P79 in-hull transducer and full Lighthouse Western Europe charts. Communication is handled through the ICOM M423 VHF radio, and a flush-mounted Offshore 105 compass provides analogue backup.
LED nav lights, anchor lights, and integrated mooring systems are built into the black powder-coated commercial A-frame, which doubles as a mounting point for sensors or antennae. Everything on board is fitted with longevity and ease-of-maintenance in mind—this is equipment designed for daily use in real operations.
For high-risk environments, the 880 can be outfitted with modular ballistic protection systems—further enhancing its capabilities for missions that involve anti-piracy patrols, border enforcement, maritime security, and force protection.
The design supports removable ballistic panels for the console, crew seating areas, and engine covers, as well as optional tube-mounted armour blankets. These systems are lightweight, mission-specific, and rated to withstand small arms fire up to 7.62x39mm (BR4+), offering vital protection without compromising speed, range, or handling.
This means the 880 can operate safely in hostile waters—supporting persistent intelligence gathering, escort operations, and coastal defence missions. For forces working in volatile zones, the ability to reconfigure with ballistic protection offers a tactical edge, while ensuring crew safety remains a priority.
Sometimes you don’t know what tomorrow’s job will be. This 880 proves that a boat doesn’t need to be single-purpose to be mission-ready. With a modular design that’s ready to adapt, serious offshore performance, and smart systems integrated throughout, this is a tool that doesn’t just meet operational requirements—it expands what’s possible.
Looking for a filming support platform? A coastal patrol boat? A drone-ready mobile base? This RIB was built for all of that—and more.
